About Postseason and Fall Ball

Postseason Play

Information regarding postseason opportunities is generally circulated to families in early May. In general, the league tries to make the opportunity to play postseason available to as many players as we can. However, it can be a select process, and it is most appropriate for the players that are most interested and accomplished. In some years, we have too few kids and have to recruit players. In other years, we have too many, and there are players that do not "make" a team.

Players that want to participate in postseason at the all-star level need to be available for all practices and games. Honors players must be available for all games, although we do tend to work with families that have plans that conflict with some practices. The main requirements for participation are player interest and commitment.

There is a postseason fee that is determined annually based on expected costs, but has traditionally been between $50 and $75. We generally leave it to the coaches to set ground rules for attendance, but in general, players need to be available for the duration of the tournaments, and they should not have significant vacations scheduled that lead to missed practice time.

We generally hope to field teams for 11-12 All Stars, 11-12 Honors, 9-10 All Stars, and 8-10 Honors, with all reams comprised of players that are playing at the AAA and Majors levels that year. That said, we do sometimes open the 8-10 Honors teams to 8 and 9 year olds from AA. Tournament dates and locations are roughly as follows: 11-12 AS - 7/8 - 7/14 (Alpenrose); 11-12 Honors - 6/22 - 6/30 (Alpenrose); 9-10 AS: 6/30 - 7/7 (Westlake Park - L.O.); and 8-10 Honors: 6/29 - 7/4 on local fields at sponsoring leagues.

Our Fall Ball Program

RHLL also provides a Fall Ball Program that runs from early September through the end of October. Fall baseball is generally games only, with games played on Friday evenings or Sunday afternoons to accommodate other fall sports. The number of teams and the levels at which we offer teams are dependent upon the level of interest in the various age groups.

Congratulations to our RHLL 11-12 Softball All Star team for earning the distinction of serving as the District 4 host representative at the 2012 Softball Little League World Series held here at Alpenrose in August.  It was  the first time a team from Raleigh Hills had ever played in the World Series!  By all accounts, it was a fabulous experience for all and a unique opportunity for our players.
