Volunteers ALWAYS Needed
Raleigh Hills Little League is a non-profit, parent-run, volunteer organization established in 1957 to provide baseball and softball programs for boys and girls in our neighborhood. All the league activities are planned and performed by parent-volunteers. This includes organizing teams, securing fields, buying uniforms, training umpires, scheduling over 600 games, coordinating with neighbor leagues, maintaining this website, paying the bills, .... and of course, managing and coaching all the players for a season. All together this work requires nearly 100 volunteers each season.
Each year, we ask every RHLL family to volunteer at least 6 hours each season to keep the little league operating successfully. RHLL has a $75 opt out fee per family for those families that cannot volunteer, in part to encourage volunteering and in part to offset costs incurred when we have to pay third parties for services, such as umpiring, tax preparation or other similar services. This fee must be paid at the beginning of the season as part of the registration process. This policy was modified in 2011 as part of RHLL's move to online registration.
Under the modified system, RHLL will not collect checks at the beginning of the year, but will instead rely on parents to make an upfront choice about whether to volunteer or not. After that, it will be up to parents to make sure those parents that choose to volunteer keep their commitment. The league will try to avoid making requests of those that pay the fee, although don't hesitate to remind the league or coaches if you have done so. We will see how it goes. Please keep in mind that we need your time more than your money to keep RHLL running smoothly.
